Cotton is grown on 2.5% of the agricultural land worldwide, but it consumes 16 to 25% of the insecticides worldwide, making cotton an environmental hazard.
The pesticides and fertilisers are poisonous, harming the health of workers and eroding the soil. Then it will require more fertilisers in the future, creating a vicious circle.
