Women hygiene products, such as sanitary pads, tampons or other are a necessity. Unfortunately, most of those are single-use. These are usually packed in plastic and are partly made from plastic, meaning that they are not recyclable or biodegradable. Instead, they take 500 to 700 years to break down into smaller pieces called microplastics. Period products are the 5th most common item found on beaches in Europe, according to the European Commission.

The reusable options

Meet Judy

Hello, my name is Judy Tang, and I am a salesperson working in the Zhejiang province, in China. I am 26 years old and have been working here for a little under three years.

Recently, we got new orders from clients, and most of us are excited about that because it means work will continue. I earn more than the country average working here, which has helped me support my family. I work about six days a week, except for the traditional Chinese holidays and public holidays.

My family works in another city, but I get to spend time with them when I can. I am not yet married and don't have kids to support. A house of my own is definitely on the cards and would make things easier for me, so I am planning to do whatever I can to buy a home. It’s at the top of my ‘To Do’ list and a passion project. Owning a home is liberating, and I can achieve that while working here. Although, I would be lying if I said I didn't wish I made more money but don't we all?

In my spare time, I like to listen to music, watch TV, maybe read a book and when I can, have a great time with my family.
